Terms of use

Plain terms for a site that sells nothing. Using it means you accept them.

What this is

Trading Truth is an independent research publication. Everything on it is general market commentary, published for education and for the interest of the thing. It is impersonal by design: written for everyone who reads it and tailored to no one.

What this is not

It is not personalized investment advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy or sell any security. Nothing here takes account of your circumstances, your goals, your tax position, or how much loss you can bear. The author is not a registered investment adviser, is not acting as your fiduciary, and takes no payment from any fund, platform, product or person discussed on this site.

The numbers

Historical results shown here are backtests. They describe what a rule would have done over a stated period. That is a record, not a forecast, and hypothetical results carry limitations real trading does not — survivorship, selection, and the plain fact that a rule was chosen by someone who already knew what the market did next. Those biases are worked against and cannot be claimed to be eliminated. Past performance guarantees nothing.

Where a figure comes from a third party, that party is named and the period is stated. Grades and records attributed to others describe the window given and nothing outside it.

Every effort is made to keep this site accurate, and no warranty is given that it is. Figures are recomputed periodically and the date they were computed appears in the footer. If you find an error, report it to hello@thetradingtruth.com and it will be corrected in public.

Risk

Trading and investing carry a real risk of loss, up to and including everything committed. Some strategies discussed here — options strategies in particular — can lose substantially more than the amount put into them. Leverage magnifies losses as readily as gains. Nothing described here is suitable for every investor, and some of it is suitable for almost no one. You act on your own judgement and at your own risk, and neither the author nor this publication is liable for any loss arising from your doing so.

Commentary about named people and firms

This site discusses the published claims, forecasts and records of named public figures, publications and firms. Each characterisation is either drawn from the public record and cited, or offered plainly as opinion. Where a third party’s assessment is reported — a performance-tracking service, for example — it is attributed to them and described within the window they measured, not asserted as a finding of this site. If you believe something here is factually wrong, write to hello@thetradingtruth.com. Corrections are published.

Content

The writing, research and data compilations on this site belong to their author. Quote them, link to them, argue with them; do not republish them wholesale as your own. Underlying market data belongs to its respective providers.

Changes

These terms may change; the current version is always the one on this page.
